Wetlands/Soil Scientist

VHBs growing Wethersfield, CT office has an immediate need for a Wetlands/Soil Scientist to join its Environmental Services team.

Responsibilities
Performing natural resource surveys including, but not limited to, wetland delineations and functional assessments, soil mapping and classification, wildlife habitat evaluations, rare species surveys
Responsible for developing environmental permit strategies with clients and staff and for preparing federal, state and local environmental permit applications
Managing and participating in the preparation of environmental impact statements and assessments
Responsible to complete wetland mitigation design and construction oversight
Establish and track project milestones and business goals
Maintain ongoing dialog with clients to keep them apprised of project status, changes in conditions or other key points of information.
Skills & Abilities
Ability to work in field settings under a variety of weather conditions
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Must be a highly motivated self-starter
Must demonstrate superior ability in collaborative project solving with stakeholders, clients, and colleagues
Requirements
BS degree in environmental science, geology, or related field; Masters degree preferred
3
years of professional experience
Certified Soil Scientist
Experience in identifying northeast plant species and soils is required; ability to identify wildlife habitats, and ecological communities is required.
Knowledge of CT and federal wetland regulations, endandgered species, and stormwater regulations is required; Knowledge of similar MA regulations as well is a plus
PWS desirable
