Vehicle Description 2001 BMW 540i Sport Acquired by the current owner in 2012, this car has been very well maintained, with over $10,000 in receipts.
Although listed as the 5th owner on the CarFax, two of those were dealers.
Originally a FL car, it came north in 2012.
The owner is a real estate agent and used it as her business vehicle for several years before retiring it over to a weekend only car.
She now doesn't really drive as that, so she's decided it's time to find her a new home.
The 540i as a base came with the 4.
4L 285 HP, 324 lb ft V8 engine, mated to a 5 spd auto transmission, shifting the power out to the IRS.
As the Sport, it has the Sport suspension, which sits a hair lower than a stock 540i and includes other beefier bits; the Sport leather seats with 8 way power; the 3 spoke Sport steering wheel (which brandishes the M logo); the Sport wheels (also with the M logo) and the Shadow Line Trim.
As a BMW touring sedan, this also comes with the usual accessories for this era:
Power steering; power 4 wheel disc brakes (all with less than 5000 miles, calipers, rotors and even a couple of lines have been replaced); AC/climate control (dual sided); power sunroof; rear seat heat/AC; lit visors; cruise control; 6 disc CD player; trip computer; power mirrors; electronic tilt/tele steering wheel; Xenon headlights; fog lights and more.
This car has just about 163,000 miles but has had it's oil changed every three thousand miles, using only Liquid Moly Synthetic; the timing chain, guides and all front and top end gaskets/seals were replaced about 10K miles ago.
A good deal of the front suspension has been replaced also within the last 10-15K miles.
The rear CV axles have been replaced and she wears new Falken Ziex 235/45/17 radials in front and the staggered 255/40/17's in back.
A full 4 wheel alignment was performed at that point.
Most recently, the battery was replaced (about 3 months ago) and the BMW Tri-Fecta lights came on, it was diagnosed as the ABS module, which was replaced just before the photos were taken.
There is a slight PS fluid leak that has not been diagnosed as to where it's leaking from, however, the lines all look dry.
All work has been done primarily at Munich Motors and Motorcars Inc.
, both here in CT and close to to her residence.
The interior does show those 163K miles, with wear on all the high touch areas, and some fading, but overall, the interior is solid and there are no rips, so, one could tackle the deep clean/softener/dye job in a long weekend and have a brand new looking interior.
The exterior also shows some wear, as use as a realtor's mobile office, there are a few dings as seen in the additional photos, the worst of being a dent in the lower sill where the owner bumped a granite curb.
Most of these are small enough that could probably be removed by a paintless/dent removal company.
The car has been garage kept for at least as long as she has owned the car and shows now rust anywhere.
There are marks on the hood from a car cover being placed on a hood that was too warm.
These may be able to be color sanded and polished out.
Despite the cosmetic shortcomings, BMW is the Ultimate Driving Machine and this 540i Sport does that very well.
The power is there, the handling is there; it's crisp and precise and stops on a dime.
This car is ready for another 100,000 miles and can be yours for just $8000.
Any questions, to schedule a time to see her in person, or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks for the interest.
